Broadcast is the total number of press materials actually distributed. Depending on the case, the media may have been paid for or distributed free of charge. Paid distribution refers to copies sent to subscribers and sold on newsstands. The distribution is free when the support is given to the readers.

For example, some of the business press is distributed free of charge to business schools. The distribution is done under the strict control of the Broadcast Justification Office To calculate circulation, simply subtract the number of unsold copies from the total number of copies printed.
