Direct mail

« Back to Glossary Index

Direct mail is a direct marketing method commonly used in business. It proposes to send commercial proposals to a well-defined group of targets. These proposals are sent to them by post or electronically as the case may be. The objective of direct mail is to encourage prospects to take action. They can :
– request an appointment or a quote,
– request product information or even a catalog,
– place an order for one or more products they are interested in.

The direct mail is mainly composed of :
– a letter presenting the product or service sold,
– a reply coupon.

For an effective direct mail, it is important to personalize the offer and the commercial letter. The use of the database containing the addresses and personal information of each target is essential.
