« Back to Glossary Index

Panels are representative, constant or permanent samples of people who regularly provide information to a research company. This data concerns the behavior of individuals. For example, the products they like to buy, the programs they like to watch and the Internet sites they often visit.

Depending on the case, the research company can automate the collection of information. This can be done, for example, via checkout or search history. Data can also be collected by consulting the answers to questionnaires that can be sent by telephone or e-mail.
