« Back to Glossary Index

The sample survey is the basic tool of a quantitative survey. This is why it is also called a quantitative sample survey. Different from the census, this type of survey is carried out among a representative sample of the basic population to be studied. The information obtained is then extrapolated to the entire base population.

In fact, the sample survey is done using a questionnaire established according to the objectives set by the brand or the company: production of quantified information or validation of the results of a quantitative study with figures. Carried out according to the rules of the art, the survey by polling makes it possible to know the opinions of the customers on a product, a price, an advertisement, a brand or a company, a situation, a mode of distribution… It also makes it possible to obtain data points on the feeling and the behavior of the customers. It is thus a relevant starting point to determine the growth opportunities of the brand or the company.
