Skimming policy

« Back to Glossary Index

The skimming policy is a pricing policy that is widely used today. It consists, for a brand, in selling its products at a price largely above those of its competitors. Practicing a skimming policy has its advantages. Indeed, it allows the brand to :
– convey a high-end image,
– increase its margins in a significant way,
– sort and select its potential buyers.

Thus, the brand can target exclusively premium customers with substantial financial means.
